Merseyside Police continue investigation into tragic incident that left one woman dead and several others injured.

Elle Edwards, a 26-year-old woman, has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting at a pub in Wallasey Village, Merseyside, on Christmas Eve. Edwards was at the Lighthouse pub with her sister and friends when she was shot in the head. Authorities have stated that she was not believed to be the intended target of the attack, which also left four others injured, one critically.

Police were called to the scene just before midnight, and initial reports suggested that some witnesses mistook the gunshots for fireworks in celebration of the festive season. Detective Constable Sue Coombs, speaking at a press conference, revealed that the gunman appeared to have aimed shots towards the pub’s front entrance. Shortly after the shooting, a dark-coloured vehicle, possibly an A-class Mercedes, was seen leaving the car park, and police are keen to speak to anyone who might have information regarding the vehicle or the shooter.

Elle’s family has been informed, and they are now grappling with their heartbreaking loss. In a statement, Nova Studio, where Elle worked, expressed their deep sorrow, paying tribute to her and her joyful presence: “Heaven gained the most beautiful angel. We are all heartbroken, thinking of your family right now, Elle. Thank you for all the laughs and happiness you brought into our lives. Rest in peace, angel.”

Among the other victims, a 28-year-old man remains in critical condition, while three other men sustained injuries, though none of them are in life-threatening condition.

Local MP Angela Eagle also shared her condolences on Twitter, urging anyone with information to come forward: “This is heartbreaking news – my thoughts are with the family of the woman who has died and those who are injured. Anyone with any information please tell the police.”
