Your outer layer is crucial – it needs to be lightweight, waterproof, windproof, breathable, and offer enough flexibility for movement, while still allowing you to layer underneath.”

There are two primary types of ski jackets: hard shell and soft shell. Hard shell jackets are renowned for their weatherproof capabilities, though they may not be the warmest option. On the other hand, soft shell jackets are more breathable and can be easily insulated with down or synthetic materials, offering a cosy, comfortable fit.
Oskarsson further clarifies: “For winter skiing, when you’re likely to face snow and wet conditions, I always recommend a hard shell jacket. However, for spring skiing, a soft shell is perfect for milder, sunnier days.
