The Elton John AIDS Foundation launches a three-year, £101 million fund to combat HIV infections in vulnerable communities.

Sir Elton John has expressed optimism about the possibility of ending AIDS by 2030, announcing the launch of a new initiative by his charity. The Elton John AIDS Foundation has introduced a three-year fund, valued at $125 million (£101 million), aimed at addressing the rising rates of HIV infections in at-risk communities.

Discussing the Rocket Fund on Good Morning America, Sir Elton stated, “We still have work to do but that’s why I’m launching this, we really want to end the AIDS situation by 2030, we think it’s possible (and) it’s doable so we just want to get a move on.”

The fund is designed to support access to HIV prevention and treatment services for over one million individuals. This includes providing access to tests, antiretroviral therapies, and pre-exposure prophylaxis treatment for HIV (PrEP).

The Elton John AIDS Foundation, established in 1992, is dedicated to overcoming HIV and LGBTQ+ stigma, discrimination, and neglect that hinder the global effort to end AIDS.
