‘He Would Write These Conspiracy-Filled Memos That He Wanted to Deliver to Vice President Mike Pence,’ Olivia Troye Recalls
An adviser to former Vice President Mike Pence has revealed that he was instructed to keep Peter Navarro, a former senior trade adviser to President Donald Trump, out of the vice president’s office due to his behavior and conspiracy-driven ideas. Olivia Troye, who served as a homeland security and counterterrorism adviser under Pence, recalled how Navarro would persistently send memos filled with unfounded conspiracy theories, hoping to push his ideas onto Pence.
Troye described Navarro as “a lunatic” in her recollection, noting that he frequently attempted to deliver these controversial memos, which were often filled with baseless claims and unsubstantiated allegations. According to Troye, Pence’s team made it clear that Navarro’s ideas and actions were not aligned with the vice president’s priorities, and efforts were made to prevent him from gaining access to the office.
Navarro, a vocal supporter of Trump and a key figure in the administration’s trade policies, became known for his extreme views and his role in challenging the 2020 presidential election results. His actions have come under scrutiny, particularly in relation to the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, which he reportedly played a part in inciting.
The revelations highlight the growing tension within the Trump administration as officials grappled with internal conflicts and diverging opinions on key political matters.
