To celebrate his milestone, MrBeast stages a Squid Game-style contest with an extravagant prize, showcasing his dedication to creative, philanthropic content
YouTube sensation MrBeast, also known as Jimmy Donaldson, has reached a remarkable milestone, celebrating his 100 million subscribers on his primary channel. Reflecting on the achievement, he shared, “Reaching 100 million means so much to me. I’ve been creating videos since I was 11, and this number represents everything I’ve worked towards. I’m so grateful to everyone who has supported me over the years, and I hope to continue making videos until the day I die.”
MrBeast took to Twitter to reinforce his dedication to his craft, stating: “No matter how successful I become, I’ll never own a mansion, yacht, or Lamborghini. My focus is on creating the best videos and helping as many people as possible.”
To mark this occasion, the YouTuber hosted an exclusive livestream on YouTube to launch new merchandise, along with releasing his most expensive video to date on August 4. The standout feature of this celebration was a jaw-dropping giveaway: a private island. For his latest challenge, MrBeast invited 100 of his subscribers to compete for ownership of the island, with the final winner being determined after overcoming a series of intense tests.
One of these challenges was a thrilling revival of the ‘Red Light, Green Light’ challenge from his hugely successful Squid Game-inspired video, which had previously gone viral. The final part of the competition saw participants searching for a hidden Play button on the island, with the last one standing being declared the winner. Upon the discovery of the Play button, MrBeast presented the winner with the coveted trophy, expressing his gratitude to his fans for supporting him through “over a decade” of his YouTube journey.
At just 24 years old, MrBeast’s success is staggering. In 2021, he was ranked as the highest-earning YouTuber, bringing in an impressive $54 million. He currently ranks fifth on the list of most-subscribed YouTube channels, following T-Series (221 million), Cocomelon (139 million), SET India (138 million), and PewDiePie (111 million).
MrBeast began his YouTube career in 2012, but it wasn’t until 2018 that he became a household name, thanks to his viral videos giving away large sums of money to strangers. In 2019, he had the most-liked creator video, and by 2020, he was the top most-subscribed creator in the US.
Beyond his main channel, MrBeast oversees 18 YouTube channels, including MrBeast Shorts, MrBeast Gaming, Beast Reacts, and Beast Philanthropy. With a staggering 215 million subscribers and over 30 billion views, his YouTube empire continues to grow.
