The actor suffered severe injuries while trying to prevent a snowplough from hitting his nephew.
Actor Jeremy Renner, widely recognised for his role as Hawkeye in Marvel films, sustained significant injuries while attempting to stop a six-tonne snowplough from colliding with his nephew. A police report from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department detailed the harrowing incident, which occurred around the New Year near the Mount Rose Highway, bordering Nevada and California.
The 52-year-old actor had been using a PistenBully plough to assist his nephew, Alexander Fries, in freeing a stuck vehicle from deep snow. After successfully moving the pickup truck, Renner exited the plough, but the machine began rolling downhill toward Fries. In a brave effort to stop it, Renner climbed onto the tracks to re-enter the cab but was pulled under the vehicle.
Fries, the only witness, screamed for help as Renner was trapped beneath the heavy machinery. Neighbours quickly came to their aid, providing assistance and towels to stabilise Renner until medical teams arrived.
Deputy Jonathan Miller’s report confirmed that Renner’s injuries were the result of his attempt to prevent the PistenBully from striking his nephew. Renner later revealed he suffered over 30 broken bones, affecting his torso, face, extremities, and head. Despite the severity, the actor expressed gratitude for the support he received.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Renner shared an update on his recovery, saying: “These 30 plus broken bones will mend and grow stronger, just like the love and bond with family and friends deepens. Love and blessings to you all.”
Renner’s bravery and resilience have inspired fans worldwide as he continues to focus on his recovery and cherishes the deepened connections with his loved ones.
