Parents’ final attempt to continue treatment for their son, who has been in a coma since April, denied.

The European Court of Human Rights has declined a request from Archie Battersbee’s parents to delay the withdrawal of their son’s life support. Archie, 12, has been in a coma since April, after being found unconscious at home. Despite numerous legal challenges, the court ruled that the decision of national courts to proceed with removing life-sustaining treatment should stand. His parents had sought further time for a review by the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
