Charlton’s giant-killing run earns them a visit to Old Trafford, while City travel to St Mary’s.

The draw for the Carabao Cup quarter-finals has been made, with Manchester City set to continue their pursuit of a seventh title in ten years as they travel to Southampton. After a thrilling 3-2 victory over defending champions Liverpool in a post-World Cup clash at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola’s side will face Southampton at St Mary’s in the week starting January 9.

Meanwhile, League One outfit Charlton Athletic will make the journey to Old Trafford to face Manchester United, after their stunning victory over Premier League side Brighton in the fourth round. The Addicks, the only non-Premier League team left in the competition, will have their work cut out, given that they are currently 57 places below United in the league standings.

Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest will look to add another chapter to their storied history in the League Cup as they host Wolves in a Midlands derby. Newcastle United fans, meanwhile, are dreaming of a semi-final spot as they prepare to face Leicester City at home in the last eight.
