Toronto Police Arrest Suspect Following Intruder Incident at Rapper’s Home, Just After Drive-By Shooting
An individual attempted to break into Drake’s Toronto mansion on Wednesday, just one day after a security guard was critically injured in a drive-by shooting outside the property. Toronto Police confirmed that officers responded to the luxury residence in the Bridle Path neighbourhood at around 2pm, where they apprehended a suspect trying to gain access to the property.
The suspect, who was arrested at the scene, was detained under Canada’s Mental Health Act and taken for medical assessment.
The previous day, police had responded to the shooting incident outside the rapper’s home. A security guard, whose identity has not been disclosed, was shot in the chest while standing near the gates of the property. The guard was later rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
One suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, and Toronto Police’s Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force is investigating the incident. The authorities have not confirmed whether Drake was present during the shooting, although the rapper’s team is reportedly cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
This incident occurred just days after Kendrick Lamar, in the midst of a public feud with Drake, used an image of the rapper’s mansion in the cover art for his diss track. In response, Drake released multiple diss tracks accusing Lamar of domestic violence. Lamar retaliated with accusations about Drake’s personal life, including an alleged secret daughter.
Additionally, Lamar’s fans took their rivalry to Google Maps, renaming parts of Drake’s neighbourhood with derogatory terms linked to the feud. Google has since addressed the issue, removing the offending contributions.
While Toronto police continue to investigate the shooting, they have not yet determined whether the ongoing rap battle between the two stars is connected to the violent incident.
